Pharmacy
About the Program
The Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) is a six-year professional degree program that prepares students for advanced pharmacy practice in clinical, community, industrial, and regulatory settings. The program is designed to equip future pharmacists with a strong foundation in pharmaceutical sciences, patient-centered care, drug therapy management, and clinical decision-making.
Emphasizing the integration of basic science, clinical experience, and public health, the Pharm.D curriculum covers pharmacology, pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry, clinical pharmacy, pharmacotherapy, and pharmaceutical care. Students also gain skills in communication, ethics, health systems, and research methodology.
Beginning with foundational courses in the biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences, the program progresses to hands-on training in hospitals, community pharmacies, and research laboratories. In the final year, students complete Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE) in diverse clinical environments to develop real-world competencies.
Graduates of the program are fully prepared to assume roles as drug therapy experts, health educators, medication safety advocates, and leaders in pharmaceutical care—ready to serve Nigeria’s growing healthcare needs and compete globally.
