About the Program

In order to translate nursing theory into exceptional patient care, you will develop comprehensive competencies in clinical practice, healthcare technology, and evidence-based nursing. A particular focus of the programme is on mastering both fundamental nursing skills and innovative healthcare technologies through hands-on training.

Over five academic years (four for Direct Entry), you will acquire professional competencies in medical-surgical nursing, maternal-child health, community nursing, and nursing leadership, along with critical soft skills for healthcare delivery. Furthermore, you will learn to apply nursing knowledge ethically and compassionately in diverse clinical settings.

The curriculum includes specialized clinical rotations across major healthcare disciplines, allowing you to develop individualized expertise in areas like critical care nursing, tropical health, or nursing informatics. Upon graduation, you will be equipped to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients across the lifespan and healthcare continuum.

Beyond classroom learning, you will train extensively in our VR simulation labs and complete clinical placements in partner hospitals, gaining vital real-world experience.

Curriculum

The curriculum is based on the Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards (NUC-CCMAS) for the education and training of undergraduate students wishing to obtain first degrees in Nursing Science in Nigeria.

Admission Criteria

UTME Entry (5-Year Programme)
To qualify for admission through UTME, candidates must:

  1. Present credits in five O'Level subjects (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) at not more than two sittings, including:

    • English Language

    • Mathematics

    • Biology

    • Chemistry

    • Physics

  2. Meet all other departmental and faculty requirements

Direct Entry (4-Year Programme)
Candidates may gain admission through:

  1. A'Level/JUPEB with a minimum of 10 points in:

    • Biology

    • Chemistry

    • Physics/Mathematics

  2. OND/HND in Nursing or related health sciences with a minimum of Lower Credit

  3. Registered Nurse (RN) Certificate from recognised institutions

All Direct Entry candidates must also possess the five O'Level credits as specified for UTME entry.

Additional Requirements:

  • Candidates must be at least 16 years old by the admission year

  • Medical fitness certification is required upon admission

  • All credentials are subject to verification
