About the Program

Program Description

The B.Sc. Microbiology is a four-year degree program that explores the biology of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa. The program focuses on the role of microbes in health, disease, the environment, industry, and biotechnology.

Students will develop hands-on laboratory skills in microbial techniques, diagnostic microbiology, molecular biology, and microbial ecology. They will learn how microbes influence global health, food safety, pharmaceuticals, and bioresource development.

The program prepares graduates for careers in medical laboratories, public health, pharmaceuticals, environmental science, food industries, and research institutions.

Program Objectives

The program aims to produce microbiologists with the scientific and analytical skills to contribute to health, industry, and environmental sustainability.

Graduates of the program will be able to:

  • Understand microbial physiology, genetics, and classification
  • Conduct microbial research and laboratory diagnostics
  • Apply microbiological knowledge in clinical, industrial, and ecological contexts
  • Address public health issues through microbial surveillance and intervention
  • Maintain laboratory safety and adhere to ethical standards

Graduates will emerge with:

  • Practical skills in microbial analysis and bioprocessing
  • Knowledge of microbial genetics, immunology, and pathogenesis
  • Readiness for roles in healthcare, food production, pharmaceuticals, and research
  • Preparation for postgraduate studies in microbiology, biotechnology, or medicine
